Environment-friendly organisations have launched a campaign today demanding stricter enforcement of the gutka ban . The initiative aims to curb health hazards of chewing gutka and pan masala, as well as the environmental menace caused by non-recoverable sachets littered across the city. The campaign kicked off at Silk Board with a special focus on the hashtag
#EnforceTheGutkaBan.
The launch featured on-ground activities such as plogging drives and awareness campaigns. Volunteers stressed that spitting not only harms individuals but also dirties public spaces. To amplify the message, organisers introduced an imaginary character, Mr Guttu—a reckless gutka chewer—with the slogan: “Don’t be a Guttu, keep your neighbourhood clean.”
