BURTON, MI – A crowd of more than 100 people gathered in the football field outside of a church in Burton for a vigil tonight following a shooting at a Grand Blanc Township church .

“I pray for a blessing on our community and the horrific shadow of today’s tragedy,” Michigan State Rep. Dave Martin said.

The vigil was held by the Genesee County Republican Party on Sunday, Sept. 28, at Holy Redeemer Church, located at 1227 E. Bristol Road.

“I dedicate and start my Sunday mornings, praying for Jesus and football,” Jody Cramer said. “ It wasn’t until I learned of the tragedies that occurred this afternoon that I realized the gravity and magnitude of the prayer that I was dedicated to. I’m praying for the police and the first responders.”
