SCHOOLCRAFT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A person has been taken into custody after police searched for him and his passenger for hours following a crash near schoolcraft Sunday.

Just after 3 p.m., dispatch got reports of a red Jeep Wrangler that was reported stolen out of Portage driving “erratically” on Oakland Drive headed south, according to the Schoolcraft Village Police Department. Witnesses saw the vehicle run off the road and crash into a tree near the intersection of Oakland Drive and W. VW Avenue in Schoolcraft Township. But the Jeep kept driving for a block, to the intersection of S. 16th Street and W VW Avenue, where it broke down.
