COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Tropical Storm Imelda is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane within the next couple of days as it makes a turn east away from the SE coast.

The positive trend of a sharp, eastward turn of Imelda continues with the latest forecast track. While tropical showers and occasional gusty winds are possible in the Midlands Monday and Tuesday, a direct landfall is not likely as it stays far offshore.

Hurricane Humberto will likely help Imelda with this turn and guide it away from the Carolinas by Wednesday and Thursday of this week. This scenario is much better for the Midlands and South Carolina. Regardless, tropical showers are expected with heavy rain staying near the coast.
