LEH, Sep 29 — Curfew continued for the sixth straight day in Leh on Monday, with authorities maintaining heightened security as Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta prepared to chair a high-level meeting to assess the situation.
Officials said the town remained peaceful under curfew, with no fresh incidents reported. Police and paramilitary forces are deployed in large numbers across sensitive areas to prevent any flare-ups.
The Lt Governor has convened a security review meeting at Raj Bhavan later in the day, coinciding with the last rites of ex-serviceman Tsewang Tharchin of Skurbuchan and Rinchen Dadul, 21, of Hanu, whose deaths had earlier triggered protests.
Authorities said strict vigil will continue until the situation stabilizes.
