The New Bedford Whaling Museum has hired Springfield resident Nathan Samoriski has been named associate registrar. He is responsible for overseeing collections record-keeping, research appointments and Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act compliance.

With a master’s degree in museum studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program and training in history from Stonehill College, he has a background in working with a wide range of museum collections. Previously serving as the statewide collections manager at the Arizona Historical Society, he has also worked with historic materials at institutions including Old Sturbridge Village, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and the Fenimore Art Museum.
