EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Bally's proposal to build a $4 billion casino in the Bronx, on a golf course once operated by the Trump Organization, was approved 5-1 by a community advisory committee.

It was the third downstate proposal to advance to state consideration. Another casino proposal, to be voted on Monday afternoon in Coney Island, is expected to be defeated.

Like the other casinos that were approved by the local boards, the Bronx proposal had support from local lawmakers to turn the former Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point into a casino.

However, Monday morning's vote was not unanimous. One committee member noted that essential land use changes were initially rejected by the City Council, after Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato, who represents the area, characterized it as "pred
