CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers are set for an MLB Postseason rematch after meeting in October last year. This time, it will be in the 2025 American League Wild Card Series, with all games played at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Detroit once held a 15 1/2-game lead over Cleveland in the AL Central, including as late as July 9. The gap was still 11 games on Sept. 4, but the Guardians surged with a 20-7 record in September while the Tigers struggled at 7-17. That turnaround set up Cleveland’s clinch on Sunday, when Detroit lost 4-3 to the Boston Red Sox.
Cleveland then added to the celebration with a 9-8 win over the Texas Rangers.
The best-of-three series begins Tuesday, Sept. 30, with all games set for 1:08 p.m. ET in Cleveland:
