Comcast is elevating Mike Cavanagh to Co- CEO , installing him alongside Brian Roberts in a shared setup to start next January.

After joining the NBCUniversal parent in 2015 as CFO, Cavanagh was subsequently elevated to President.

Roberts is the son of the company’s late founder, Ralph Roberts. He will continue as chairman of the board when the Co-CEO roles begin in January, with Cavanagh being added to the board.

While having two co-equal CEOs remains unusual in corporate America, Netflix has been a notable example of the structure working out well. Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters have been Co-CEOs of the company since 2023, presiding over a period of share-price growth and continued dominance in streaming despite skepticism about the dual arrangement.
