Violence broke out in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday (September 26) with police action against protesters agitated by police and administrative action against ‘I Love Mohammed’ posters in Kanpur. After Friday prayers, a large crowd carrying religious banners and placards gathered near Bareilly’s Islamia Ground and allegedly pelted stones at police, besides damaging several vehicles.
According to the police, the violence began after some people violated prohibitory orders and started protesting in different parts of the city.
