A driver died Sunday morning after his vehicle crashed head-on into a concrete barrier along a sharp curve on an exit ramp from Interstate 83 and caught fire, according to new details from York County authorities.
The 33-year-old man had two passengers with him when he crashed around 7:30 a.m. at the southbound exit 40A to Limekiln Road, Fairview Township, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.
The vehicle slid onto the barrier, causing the fuel tank to rupture and catch fire. The coroner’s office said the vehicle became engulfed, with the three occupants trapped inside.
Witnesses stopped and helped get the occupants out of the vehicle, including the injured and unconscious driver, the coroner’s office said.
The driver died at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries, accor
