FOREST CITY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect has been arrested after exposing himself and those around him to fentanyl during a traffic stop.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were patrolling U.S. 221A Highway in Forest City when they conducted a traffic stop on Kelly Road on Sept. 26.
Officials said the stop led to an investigation where deputies noticed drugs in plain view and white powder, later tested positively for fentanyl, on the clothing and hands of the rear passenger who also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Deputies said the rear passenger unsuccessfully attempted to destroy and/or hide the fentanyl by ripping open the package, which resulted in the exposure to himself, other passengers in the car and law enforce
