It’s been a tense week between 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen.

In the week leading up to Sunday’s game, Saleh detailed the Jaguars’ “legal” signal-stealing strategy, to which Coen refrained from much comment.

And after the 49ers’ 26-21 loss in Week 4 — their first of the 2025 NFL season — Saleh and Coen appeared to have a verbal altercation while walking off the field. Coen, doing his best Will Smith impersonation, is seen being held back by a Jaguars player and a staffer while telling Saleh to “Keep my name out of your mouth.”

On one hand, Coen refused to discuss what happened in the interaction during his postgame press conference, saying, “Not a big deal. … We’re going to keep that between us.”
