Lanarkshire’s two council leaders have warmly welcomed the announcement of £20 million in government funding being issued to each of the two local authority areas. ‌

Both North and South Lanarkshire are among the 14 Scottish councils which will receive the financial support over the next decade under the Westminster “Pride in Place” initiative, which aims to “precisely target areas which can benefit most from funding for a wide range of regeneration projects”. ‌

The specific projects and areas to benefit have still to be determined; with South Lanarkshire noting that details are set to be confirmed “before the end of the year”. ‌
