The charm of the Crescent City and the region is defined in part by its antique architecture, yet splendid examples of historic buildings are regularly lost. A goal of the 75-year-old Louisiana Landmarks Society is to raise awareness of vulnerable structures before it’s too late.

Since 2005, the society has annually issued a list of examples of buildings in New Orleans and the nearby area that could easily disappear, due to neglect, damage, and threat of demolition. In addition to individual historic structures, the society includes examples of broader issues that can impede preservation.
