Should the town allow on-street parking near Barrington Beach? Should some residents be afforded special exceptions to parking prohibitions? Should Barrington close its beach to non-residents?

A single item on the Barrington Transportation Advisory Committee meeting agenda, “On-Street Parking near Town Beach,” opened the door for a range of opinions on a variety of topics.

Some residents pushed back against allowing any on-street parking on the roads near the town beach, citing safety concerns and current issues with illegally parked vehicles. A few residents called for better enforcement of current parking restrictions. And some folks spoke in favor of a program where residents who live near the beach could get special passes which would allow their guests to park on
