BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – The Bronx is one step closer to getting a casino after a local committee voted to move forward a $4 billion proposal.

The Community Advisory Committee approved the project Monday morning, moving it forward to the State Gaming Commission. The Bally's Bronx proposal passed with five positive votes and one negative vote from Councilmember Kristy Marmorato’s representative.

The application is for the city’s first commercial casino license, which allows for live tables and table games. Currently, the region only has casinos with video lottery games.
