ALEXANDRIA BAY, New York (WWNY) - If you see some activity on the St. Lawrence River on Wednesday, it’s likely a training exercise.
The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team and Aviation Unit will be training on the St. Lawrence River near Alexandria Bay from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on October 1.
The teams will be set up near Bonnie Castle and people are welcome to attend and observe the training.
The Underwater Recovery Team is tasked with locating evidence, victims, and weapons underwater in support of investigations across New York State.
New York State Police say the St. Lawrence River area provides an ideal training environment to prepare for the demanding missions the team undertakes year-round.
