LAKEWOOD, Ohio — A woman was found dead inside a Lakewood hotel room and police say a suspect has been arrested and charged with murder.

According to the Lakewood Police Department, officers responded to the Days Inn at 12019 Lake Avenue, where they discovered 54-year-old Dawn Gibson of Lakewood dead in a second-floor room on Sept. 18.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Gibson’s death a homicide caused by cervical compression.

Police say the suspect, 18-year-old Xavier Sanders, told officers he stays in University Heights but does not have a permanent address. Sanders has been charged with murder and is being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail.

Sanders appeared in court Monday morning, where a judge set his bond at $1 million.
