The University of Colorado Boulder released a statement Sunday night condemning fans’ use of expletives and religious slurs during Saturday night’s football game against BYU.

The statement, from Chancellor Justin Schwartz and Athletic Director Rick George, came after videos on X show the student section chanting “f— BYU” and “f— the Mormons” during the game.

“Such behavior is deeply disappointing and does not reflect the values of respect, inclusion and integrity we expect of our campus community,” the statement said.

The university shared its statement on X, where it had 113 shares and 888 likes as of Monday morning.

“CU Boulder is committed to fostering an environment where all individuals — students, staff, faculty, alumni, opposing fans and other visitors — feel welcome and safe,”
