LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new executive director has been appointed for the Louisville Free Public Library.

Mayor Craig Greenberg announced Heather Lowe would take over from interim executive director Barbara Sexton Smith.

Lowe has more than 15 years of library leadership experience including most recently as interim director at the Dallas Public Library.

"I'm honored to join a community that values its library and a talented library team so passionate about serving the community. Together, we will strengthen Louisville Free Public Library's legacy of providing access, learning, and connection for every Louisvillian," Lowe said.

Greenberg’s mission has been investing and improving the library system across Louisville.
