In her speech, Anand highlighted a blend of humanitarian and security issues, while also expressing Canada's ambition to be an "attractive destination for international capital."

Anand stated that Canada intends to engage in the political processes that will emerge following the Israel-Hamas conflict, pledging to assist in any way possible. She defended international agreements, particularly the 1951 Refugee Convention, which is under scrutiny for proposed reforms that would impose stricter asylum rules. Anand asserted the importance of these agreements in maintaining global humanitarian standards.

In her remarks, she also addressed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, stating, "Ukraine is not backing down" against Russia's full-scale invasion. She reaffirmed Canada's steadfast support for Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty.

Anand delivered the address in place of Prime Minister Mark Carney, who was initially scheduled to speak at the assembly. This speech underscores Canada's commitment to multilateralism and its role in addressing pressing global issues.
