GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The push to bring an MLS NEXT Pro soccer team to Grand Rapids took a step forward Saturday when officials revealed the club’s name, color and logo .

Athletic Club Grand Rapids, shortened to AC Grand Rapids on club gear, is expected to launch in spring 2027.

The team will play its home games at Amway Stadium, the 8,500-seat venue under construction adjacent to the David D. Hunting YMCA on Lake Michigan Drive NW in downtown Grand Rapids.

The team’s colors are blue, gold and black.

David Van Andel, the team’s co-owner, said many soccer teams incorporate ‘football club’ or ‘athletic club’ into their names. He said he and his colleagues chose “athletic club” because it’s “a little less used,” and that Grand Rapids was included to identify the team’s home city.
