Dallas Mavericks big man Anthony Davis will have a slightly different look when he takes on the court next to rookie Cooper Flagg next season.

Moving forward, according to the 10-time NBA All-Star and former NBA champion, he will wear protective eyewear whenever he is on the court. This offseason, Davis said he had surgery to repair a detached retina.

Davis added that he will wear the protective eyewear "for the rest" of his career because it is mandated by his doctors. He had significant redness in his eye at the Mavericks media day because of the eye drops that he uses following the operation.

Davis joked that he will look like former NBA forward Horace Grant on a basketball court.

As a kid, Davis went from wearing glasses to prescription goggles before eventually settling on contact lenses.

While he was known for wearing glasses for three years in high school, he has rejected wearing goggles in the past.

But now that a doctor has told him it's mandatory, expect Davis to resemble Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Amar'e Stoudemire.
