Every week, the Las Cruces Sun-News will nominate several athletes for its Athlete of the Week award, sponsored by the El Paso Children's Hospital. The winner is decided by you, the readers.

The award highlights the best performances from Las Cruces-area schools from the previous week. This week, there are 10 football and soccer nominees from Las Cruces, Mayfield, Organ Mountain and Hatch Valley.

Last week's winner was Gadsden girls' soccer's Jazbrie Alvarado , who scored nine goals across two games, including a hat-trick in a 10-0 win over Hatch Valley and a double hat-trick in an 11-0 victory against Deming, to earn her nomination.
