A unique exhibit on display at the Walters Art Museum combines the love of animals with ancient history.
"The most common type of artifact found in excavation of Egypt is actually mummified animals. There were 7 million dogs that were found so far, 4 million ibises, cats, snakes, shrews, crocodiles and many other animals," said Lisa Anderson-Zhu, the museum's curator.
The " Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt " exhibit delves into why ancient Egyptians were interested in animals, how they lived among them, and how they factored into religious life by sending messages to the gods through the animals' souls.
