MANTECA, Calif. —

Heads-up for drivers on Highway 99 in San Joaquin County: A big roadwork project will cause full, overnight closures for the next few days near Manteca at Austin Road.

It's all part of what San Joaquin County calls the Highway-to-Highway State Route 99/120 Connector Project .

The full, overnight highway closures will happen through Friday, roughly between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Work in the area will continue for several weeks as crews install girders (large horizontal beams) that support the deck for the new Austin Road Bridge.

The San Joaquin Council of Governments says once complete, the Highway 99/120 connector improvements will increase safety, ease traffic congestion, and reduce emissions for better air quality. This content is imported from Fac
