A longtime voice in Central New York radio has died at age 92.

Raymond “Ray” Boyce, also known on the air as “Raybo,” died on Sept. 20, according to an online obituary . A cause of death was not provided.

Boyce started his radio career in his home state of New Jersey, and then moved with his family to Syracuse in the 1960s. He worked as a disc jockey hosting jazz shows on WFBL (1390 AM), WAER (88.3 FM) and WCNY (91.3 FM in Syracuse, WUNY-89.5 in Utica/Rome and WJNY-90.9 in Watertown/North Country) for more than 30 years, according to The Post-Standard archives.

“‘Lovable ‘ol Raybo’ loved jazz music,” his obit said.

Boyce is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anna, whom he met when they both served in the Army, as well as four daughters, 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
