DESPITE fan fury after the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers tied on Sunday Night Football, the NFL has no plans to change its overtime rules.

The Cowboys and Packers played a thrilling overtime game, but the score ended up as 40-40.

The current NFL rules allow for both teams to get a possession in overtime.

That gives both teams an opportunity to score, unlike the previous version of overtime.

However, if both teams are tied after the 10-minute overtime period, the game ends in a tie.

With both teams getting a guaranteed possession and only a 10-minute period to play, it is much easier to finish with a tie that it was in the previous overtime format.
