Grand Canyon National Park announced on Monday , Sept. 29 that water conservation measures will be in effect at the South Rim until further notice.
The water restrictions are necessary because of a break in the Transcanyon Waterline -- the 12.5-mile pipeline that carries water across the canyon from Roaring Springs below the North Rim -- north of Phantom Ranch. Until the pipeline is repaired, visitors to the South Rim will be asked to reduce their water usage in hotels and campgrounds. (On average, pipeline breaks typically require three to five days to fix.) Copy article link
