Via Rail has announced they are delaying a pilot project that would see trains going directly between Montreal and Toronto, bypassing communities in between.
In a Facebook post, Bay of Quinte MP Chris Malette welcomed the news, and said he would continue to communicate with Via regarding route changes that would impact area rail passengers.
“ If they consider similar future pilot programs or actions that could impact rail passengers in our area, we insist that we be a part of the conversation, ” said MP Malette.
Via rail said that the pilot project was postponed due to operational constraints.
