New York Giants owner John Mara made a worrying announcement on Monday, following the team’s first win of the new NFL season in the wake of Russell Wilson’s benching on Sunday.
Mara, 70, revealed in a statement via the Giants’ official website that he has been diagnosed with cancer but is feeling optimistic and is following a treatment plan.
“I have recently been diagnosed with cancer and have been following the treatment plan recommended by an outstanding team of doctors. I’m feeling strong and optimistic, and I’m committed to seeing this through to a positive outcome,” he wrote.
The businessman made it clear that he will remain active in team affairs while he undergoes treatment.
