Greater Manchester will get £25m to grow its film, TV, music, fashion and video games, Labour has announced. Culture secretary Lisa Nandy, who is the MP for Wigan , made the announcement at the Labour Party conference.
During her speech at the conference in Liverpool on Monday (September 29), the Labour MP said the government is 'backing our regions' by giving six areas outside of London, including Greater Manchester, a share of a £150m pot. The Creative Places Growth Fund was announced back in June as part of the government's industrial strategy.
The fund promises to help creative businesses and freelancers innovate, up-skill and attract private investment.
The government has now confirmed that six regions 'with strengths in creative industries' will get £25m each.
