KELLY Clarkson has said the "world feels very heavy" during her first show since her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's death.

The American Idol alum returned to her post as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday to kick off Season 7.

The talk show had been on hiatus for the summer break, but it was previously reported that Kelly , 43, would be back for the new season premiere, despite dealing with a family tragedy.

Kelly's ex, Brandon, 48, who is the father of her two children, River Rose, 11, and Remy Alexander, 9, died after a more than three-year battle with melanoma on August 7.

She started the show with her rendition of The Weeknd's Blinding Lights for her "Kellyoke" segment, before speaking to the live studio audience.
