MADISON (WKOW) -- A driver was cited after police said they were caught going 114 mph on the Beltline.

According to a news release, Madison police were monitoring traffic near the Whitney Way exit on Saturday morning when they spotted the speeding driver traveling west, going 114 mph around 8:05 a.m.

An officer was able to catch up to the driver and pull them over. They were cited for speeding and reckless driving. Both citations carry fines and up to six points each on the driver's license.

The posted speed in that area is 55 mph.
