The Brief

WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Trump’s plan to end the Israel-Gaza war was released by the White House Monday following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

The backstory:

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing about 1,200 people, including more than 300 at an Israeli music festival and taking 251 people hostage. So far, more than 65,000 people in Gaza, mostly civilians, have been killed. The Israel Defense Forces says 460 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the war.

Gaza will be a deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.
