STRASBURG, Va. (DC News Now) -- A 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a young mother of a missing baby in Strasburg, Va., back in 1998, Virginia State Police announced Sunday.

Investigators say 57-year-old Daniel Pompell is set to stay behind bars after an arraignment Monday afternoon, following his arrest on Friday. He is charged with first-degree murder of then-20-year-old Sylena Jo Dalton -- the mother of his infant child -- and missing 10-week-old baby girl Allyson Kathleen Dalton.

The baby girl went missing at the time of her mother's murder and has never been found.

Family members who spoke to DC News Now off camera after Monday's arraignment said they still have just as many questions about the murder today as they did almost three decades ago.
