CONROE, Texas (KIAH) -- A man who was convicted in the death of a 20-year-old woman in Montgomery County in 2023 received a sentence of life in prison, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said.

Joshua Perkins, 34, was found guilty of aggravated assault causing bodily injury with a deadly weapon in the death of 20-year-old Jada Loggins by a Montgomery County grand jury.

District Judge Patty Maginnis sentenced Perkins to life. The charge carries the same punishment range as murder, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that on Feb. 11, 2023, Perkins assaulted Loggins inside their home. He waited 30 minutes to call 911, which prosecutor said that Perkins gave a fake name and told dispatchers that Loggins had fallen.

First responders found Loggins unresponsive and without a pulse
