The outside noise surrounding Dave Doeren and N.C. State football continues to get louder as fans flood social media with posts criticizing where the Wolfpack is and where it wants to be.

A double-digit favorite against a team with an interim coach, N.C. State lost 23-21 to Virginia Tech at Carter-Finley Stadium for its second straight ACC defeat, dropping the Wolfpack ’s record to 3-2 (1-2 ACC).

Doeren won at least eight games in seven of his first 12 seasons with the program, including four straight for the first time in program history, but fans haven’t seen double-digit victories since 2002. That remains the only season in which N.C. State has won at least 10 games.
