CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is in custody after an attempted armed robbery at a grocery store in Shelby, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).
On Sept. 26, deputies, along with Shelby police officers, responded to the La Tienda Mexicana El Huacal grocery store in Shelby in reference to an armed robbery.
Officers learned that two suspects attempted to rob the store, but were stopped by the armed store clerk. During the interaction, one of the suspects was shot in the ankle.
One suspect fled in a Dodge Charger and the other fled on foot.
