JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH (WTRF) - During a special meeting today, Jefferson County commissioners approved hiring three former Eastern Gateway employees — two in security and one in maintenance.

Officials say the staff is needed to keep the building safe, cooled for servers, and maintained while the transition process continues.

YSU is expected to sign an agreement to take over operations, but as of last Monday, the university has up to 8 to 10 weeks to review the proposal.

In the meantime, the Department of Higher Education is expected to reimburse the county for these staffing costs once YSU formally takes control.
