The union representing striking college support staff said talks broke down on Monday, which means picket lines will continue across the province with around 10,000 workers remaining on strike.

All 24 public colleges in Ontario are affected.

In Timmins, approximately 130 support staff from Northern College, and 12 from College Boreal, are among those on strike.

In a statement released on Monday, OPSEU stated:

“Ontario full-time college support staff bargaining team, represented by OPSEU/SEFPO, and the College Employer Council (CEC) broke down Monday after the employer refused progress on job security provisions for striking workers. Picket lines will stay up on college campuses across the province, with 10,000 workers remaining on strike.”
