COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Columbus State University officials confirm a student was assaulted Friday in the city parking deck serving the RiverPark Campus.

According to CSU Police, the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended.

University officials now confirm the suspect as 20-year-old Hosni Batebawai, who was arrested on charges of aggravated sexual battery, aggravated assault, rape and hijacking a motor vehicle in the second degree.

Batebawai is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at 8 a.m.

UPD says the case remains under active investigation.
