Authorities are looking for four people who carjacked a vehicle near the Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick early Monday.

The carjackers showed a weapon to the driver near the intersection of Nichol Avenue and Sandford Street at 12:50 a.m., Rutgers police said. The four carjackers then ordered the driver out and fled in the vehicle.

The stolen car was recovered empty a short time later.

Police said the victim — who is not a Rutgers student or university employee — was uninjured.

The carjacking took place just off the Douglass Campus at Rutgers.

New Brunswick police, who are leading the investigation, couldn’t immediately be reached for additional information.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Brunswick police at 732-745-5200.
