A transient man was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison Monday for threatening to kill conservative Christians with an AR-15 assault rifle.

The 30-month sentence for Isaac Sissel, 26, by U.S. District Judge Jonathan J.C. Grey came one day after a Burton man, Thomas Jacob Sanford, allegedly shot people at a Mormon church service in Grand Blanc Township and set the establishment on fire before being killed by law enforcement. Police say 10 people were shot during the attack, two fatally, and two other bodies were later discovered in the remains of a fire.
