CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Medical records for a man accused of killing a Ukrainian woman on the light rail in South End have been ordered for release.
A Mecklenburg County judge issued an order on Monday for the release of Decarlos Brown's medical records following the deadly stabbing of Iryna Zarutska in August.
Brown requested the release of these records through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department after he was charged with murder in the case. He spent around six days in an Atrium Health hospital for injuries sustained in the incident before he was formally charged.
Atrium Health refused to produce the medical records to CMPD on Wednesday, Sept. 24, according to Monday's filing. An Atrium Health spokesperson stated that they requested the request be made in an appropriate legal manner
