MAGA TV host Eric Bolling called on President Donald Trump to fire "800,000 Democrats" if the government shuts down due to a lack of funding this week.
Bolling made the comments on Monday's episode of his show "Bolling!" on the conservative Real America's Voice network. They come at a time when Democrats and Republicans are negotiating a funding bill that would keep the government open for the rest of the year.
"Number one, we've been told never to negotiate with terrorists," Bolling said. "Democrats are playing terrorists right now. Don't negotiate with them."
"Number two, shut the d--- thing down," he added. "I think I speak for a lot of people. Stop this game of, 'Oh, if I shut down the government, it's their fault.' Shut the d--- thing down. Or, how about this? Fire 800,000 Democrats who work there. There are about 2.4 million people who work in the federal government. Fire a third of them. Make sure they're all Democrats. See if they want to negotiate then."
Bolling's comments are symbolic of the vitriol growing between Democrats and Republicans over the shutdown fight. Republicans have threatened to defund poverty alleviation programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, also known as welfare, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
