In Tony Sanchez's words, the best thing that happened on Monday was the sun rising.
There hasn't been much for New Mexico State's coach and his Aggies team to celebrate otherwise. NM State has now lost consecutive games after a 38-20 defeat to New Mexico , a game the Aggies once led 17-7 before being outscored 31-3. The Aggies (2-2, 0-1 Conference USA) also don't have much time for preparation this week, as they play Sam Houston (0-4, 0-1) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at home.
NM State usually changes its practice schedules for CUSA's midweek games, and this year is no different. Monday was a practice day when it's usually an off day, and Sunday was an off day when it's usually a film-watching day. Tuesday will be a normal practice followed by a walkthrough on Wednesday.
