MACON, Ga. — A man is dead after getting caught in a West Macon house fire, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones said Oliver Jefferson, 86, was badly burned in a west Macon fire at a home within the 1000 block of Hartridge Drive, near Log Cabin Drive, on Sunday.

Jones said that Jefferson was taken to the Augusta Burn Center. He was pronounced dead at the center around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

We've reached out to the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department for further information on what might've caused the fire, but we did not receive an immediate response.
