FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - A Michigan felon was sentenced for illegally possessing a firearm in Fayette County.
33-year-old Marquise Dickerson, of Monroe, Michigan, pled guilty to possessing a firearm as a felon in February.
In August 2024, officers responded to a report of assault in Oelwein, Iowa. The victim reported to police that Dickerson spat on and choked them, according to a release.
Police say Dickerson was intoxicated at the time.
Officers conducted a search warrant of his residence and found a firearm. Dickerson was banned from owning a firearm due to a previous conviction.
Dickerson was sentenced to over four years in prison and a three-year supervised release following imprisonment.
